About this model

The Ford Mk IV was the ultimate expression of Ford's determination to conquer the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Developed from the experimental J-Car program, the Mk IV featured an advanced honeycomb aluminum chassis, sleek American-designed bodywork by Roy Lunn and Kar Kraft, and Ford's thunderous 7.0-liter V8 engine derived from NASCAR competition. Built entirely in the United States, the Mk IV combined brute horsepower with improved aerodynamics and durability, creating one of the most formidable sports prototypes of the 1960s. Remarkably, the Mk IV competed in only two races—the 1967 12 Hours of Sebring and the 1967 24 Hours of Le Mans—and won them both.

This Marsh Models 1:43 scale handbuilt resin replica faithfully recreates the #1 Ford Mk IV driven by Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt to overall victory in the 1967 24 Hours of Le Mans. Representing Shelby American, the all-American pairing dominated the race after taking the lead early, completing a record-breaking 388 laps at an average speed of 135.48 mph (218.74 km/h). Their commanding performance gave Ford its second consecutive Le Mans victory and remains one of the most significant achievements in endurance racing history. To this day, it is the only overall Le Mans victory achieved by an American-built car, entered by an American team, powered by an American engine, fitted with American tires, and driven by an all-American driver lineup. Following the victory celebration, Dan Gurney famously sprayed champagne over the crowd and fellow competitors, creating a podium tradition that continues throughout motorsport today.

Expertly handcrafted by Marsh Models, this finely detailed resin replica captures the muscular lines of the Ford Mk IV, distinctive red Shelby American livery, authentic race markings, detailed cockpit, and race-winning configuration from one of the greatest endurance racing victories ever achieved. It is an essential addition for collectors of Le Mans winners, Ford competition cars, and landmark American racing history.
