About this model
John Wyer Automotive Engineering entered the Gulf-liveried Porsche 917K #1 for the 1970 Daytona 24 Hours, the opening round of the World Sportscar Championship. Driven by Jo Siffert and Brian Redman, the short-tail (Kurzheck) 917 represented Porsche's latest effort to tame the immense power of its flat-12 sports prototype. Throughout the race the car ran strongly and helped secure a dominant performance for the Gulf team. At the finish, Siffert and Redman completed a memorable Porsche one-two result by taking second place overall behind their sister car.
